Chester-LaSalle: Winning!

The Basketball Team at CHS Before the Game
The Cheerleaders with Coaches Karen Miah and Jennifer Hamm at CHS before the game
Norristown had a full house this afternoon for the Chester LaSalle game. A 1957 Chester High School graduate was at the game to cheer on the Clippers. She said, “They won back then too.” Turns out she was right, Chester beat Reading 52-47 in 1957 in the semi-finals. A couple of fans also remarked, “When you come to these games, you see people you haven’t seen in years.” Glad to see fans come out to cheer Chester on.

First quarter actually started a little slow. The Clippers were behind 7 to 11 to start but picked it up quickly in the middle of the quarter to tie up the game 12-12 at the end. The second quarter the Clippers pulled ahead a little and fought to keep a small lead of 24-21 by half-time. Too close for me but according to the records we are a second half team. While the referees were trying to keep the game close with their calls, Clippers kept the lead at 37-30 to end third quarter. Fourth quarter Chester’s scores kept creeping up more and more. With about 4 minutes left to go, the score was 54-37. People started leaving, “Okay, see you next game.” But LaSalle gained 6 points, 58-43, with little over 2 minutes to go. Clippers dug in, “We’re in baby!” with 1 minute 45 seconds left. Clippers went on to win 68 to 50.

Two more games to go. Clippers go on to the semi-finals to play Plymouth-Whitemarsh on Wednesday.
