Widener University to serve Thanksgiving feast at Salvation Army

Widener University students prepare meal for Salvation Army on Nov. 21

Chester, Pa. – Students in Widener University’s Center for Experience Management in Tourism and Hospitality will learn a holiday lesson in giving, as they serve a delicious Thanksgiving meal to Chester residents at the Salvation Army on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Approximately 25 students – a mix of first-year students in the “Introduction to the Tourism and Hospitality Industry” course and seniors in the “Co-Op Leadership Development Course” – will prepare and serve the annual feast.

The students have been fundraising to purchase food, planning the menu, calculating ingredients and preparing the food in advance. Come Wednesday, they will be ready with all the Thanksgiving favorites, from stuffing and yams to turkey and pies.

Last year, a tourism and hospitality management senior, Nancy Cusmano, said the experience was very special as she embarks on her career path. “It is such a great feeling knowing I can give back and give that happy feeling to someone else. We are hospitality majors so being able to give someone that happy experience is something I strive do with my career.”
