The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation, in cooperation with the William Trippley Youth Development Foundation, is sponsoring the Chester All-Star Track Meet on Saturday, June 2nd at Widener University.  This Meet is free and open to all Chester 4th and 5th graders.  The Chester children (in groups of four) will have one Chester County high school track athlete as their "coach" for the day, encouraging them and taking them from one event to another.  The kids will get healthy snacks during the day (9am until 3pm) and a healthy lunch at 2pm.  It doesn't cost anything, but the children need to register so that I know how many children to expect.  We were thinking that about 500 kids would come.  We have about 150 volunteers already committed.

Not too late to Register!

Philadelphia Union vs. Rochester Rhinos at PPl Park

Free tickets?  Lots were being given away for the Union U.S. Open Cup Third Round game with the Rhinos. I have been on a walk/run around the park, launched on a boat from the docks, and drove by countless times. So I could not miss my first trip inside the park. A short rain delay and some heavy down pour of rain during the game but the Union was able to get the game in. I found a new respect for the game of soccer. The team and Freddy Adu did a great job in winning 3 to 0 over the Rhinos of New York. Good looking stadium.

Chester Community Charter School Awards its Parents for their Involvement and Dedication to Student Success

The Parent Appreciation Program began in 2004 as an initiative to honor and reward CCCS parents, who partner with the school, its teachers and its administrators, in an effort to contribute to and support a productive learning culture. Over the course of the year, parents are graded by their children’s teacher, on the Parent’s Report Card, in the following categories:
Attendance and involvement at individual parent/teacher conferences, at the school’s Parent/Teacher Association’s (PTA) scheduled meetings and at other school events
Student completion of homework assignments
Student punctuality and attendance
Student adherence to dress code, and
Student behavior

Each year, the parents are invited to a catered dinner in their honor and have a chance to win door prizes, which include gift cards, bikes, televisions, DVD players, and the grand prize, a trip to Walt Disney World, in Orlando, Florida.
