Chester Wins at the Delaware County Science Fair

Last night the Delaware County Intermediate Unit held the Awards Ceremony for the Science Fair. The Awards Ceremony was for the 256 contestants that competed with their projects. The contestants were mainly from Parochial, Home Schools, and only approximately 6 Public School Districts which participated in the Science Fair. There were 228 Science Projects entered for the competition. The awards were broken down into 17 categories. Chester was primary in the team category and won 60% of the awards. 

Here are the winners from CUSD at the County Level:

Honorable Mention for Individual Category: Amanda Outterbridge
Science Project: Dominant Side of the Brain
Human Behavioral Science Course at Chester High School taught by Ms. Namita Mazumdar

Second Place in the Team Category: Tyler Ballard and Anthony Reed
Science Project: Egg-Citing 2
Biology Course at Chester High School taught by Mrs. Mary Tucker

Third Place in the Team Category:  Shalenee Nunez, Kataya Richie, and Havana Dixon
Science Project: Water Quality
Chemistry Course at Chester High School taught by Dr. Delores Wright


Honorable Mention in the Team Category: Adarius Williams
Science Project: Acid Rain

Science Projects Water Quality and Egg-Citing 2 will be going on to the next level at the Delaware Valley Science Fair which will be held in Phoenixville, PA on April 5th to 7th, 2011. If the teams continue to win, they will go on to the International Level in Los Angeles, California. Congratulations to all the contestants and participants in the Science Fair.
