Delaware County Bar Association 2011 Law Day Essay Contest

From Mr. Reginald Springfield, English Teacher at Chester High School:
Law Day will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011. It consists of a program designed to provide information and awareness regarding our legal system to the surrounding community.
The theme for Law Day 2011 is “Freedom Rocks.” Delaware County school students (either a Delaware County resident or attending a school in Delaware County) grades 9 to 12 are invited to enter an essay contest for this year’s Law Day.
Students are asked to write an essay (500 words or less) with their position on the following topic: “As a citizen of the United States, we enjoy many freedoms and rights granted by our Constitution. Explain which freedom is most important to you and how this freedom is evident today.”  Students are encouraged to give specific examples, to be creative and to develop one or two ideas.
All submissions must include the student’s name, age, grade, address, home phone number, school, teacher sponsor (if any), and school telephone number.
There will be cash awards given for the first, second, and third place winners. Additionally, the student winning first place will have the opportunity to read his or her essay at the Law Day Ceremony. Please note that the original work will not be returned.
Please have any interested students forward their essay entries as follows: Attention Aimee Taylor, 339 West State Street, Media, PA 19063. Submissions must be received no later than Monday, April 18, 2011.
