DETAILS: Chester Pride is planning a surprise marriage proposal to
Melrose Pride between games of the women’s and men’s basketball double-header
versus Arcadia University on February 16 at Widener.
The public address announcer will
ask Melrose to come to center circle of the basketball court during the break
between games. Chester—the ring box behind his back—will approach Melrose, drop
to one knee, open the ring box, and await her answer. Will she say, “Yes”?
Chester and Melrose, male and female
lions, are the mascots for the Widener University Pride. They were introduced
at the university in 2008, replacing Rocky the Pioneer. Chester and Melrose
have been dating since their arrival at Widener.
WHEN: Saturday, February 16, 2:30 p.m. (as soon as the women’s
game is over)
