Clippers stormed pass the Eagles

Chester (11-3, 6-0) maintained the top spot in the Del Val with a 85-69 victory over the Chichester Eagles. With the game tied at 17 after the first quarter, the Clippers dominated the second quarter by a 29-5 margin and never looked back. Eight players chipped in on the second quarter outburst: Breilynd White (7), Kyree Womack (5), Qadir Lowrie (4), Olayinka Itabiyi (4), Isaiah Freeman (4), Kevin Rucker (2) Larenzo Jerkins (2) and Terrence Cobb (1). Chester led at the intermission 46-22. The game was never in doubt as the Clippers increased their lead to 66-40 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Chester put five players in double figures with Breilynd White and Kevin Rucker leading the way with 13 points. Larenzo Jerkins and Terrence Cobb each dropped in 12 and Olayinka Itabiyi finished the group with 11 points.

JV GAME SUMMARY

Chester ran aground in the fourth quarter and could not keep up with the Eagles enroute to a 55-70 defeat. The Clippers enter the final eight minutes trailing 41-45 and went cold from the free throw line. Their frigid shooting 5 of 16 allowed the Eagles to pull away. Hamza Clay-Goudelock led the team with 15 points followed by Dante Atkinson's 13 points.

Rounding out Chester's scoring was Jerry Young (9), Andre West (7) Andre Brown (5), Dallas Thompson (3), Ra'Shaad Dorsey (3).

Chester will return to the Clip Joint on Thursday, February 3rd with a triple header against Christiana. The Freshman game tip-off is scheduled for 3:45 followed by the JV at 5:00 with the Varsity to follow.
