Bath Iron Works, 2007, Kass Morin Freeman, Juror
Chester, Pa. – The Widener University Art Gallery will host the Philadelphia Water Color Society 2014 Members Exhibition of Works on Paper from March 18 through May 17. An Awards Reception will be held on Saturday, April 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the gallery.

The Philadelphia Water Color Society was founded in 1900 to offset the then common exhibition prejudice against watercolor. Today, it continues its mission of furthering watercolor art through annual exhibitions that have evolved into open and international events. More than 500 international artists comprise the Philadelphia Water Color Society membership.

The exhibition is juried by award-winning artist Kass Morin Freeman. Educated at the Moore College of Art and Design and Tyler School of Fine Art, Freeman has been involved for more than 30 years as a teacher, juror and workshop instructor with many groups and art institutions.

Having won more than 120 major awards in regional, national and international art exhibitions, Freeman’s work has been featured in several books and art publications. She is an elected member of the American and National Watercolor Societies and the Philadelphia Water Color Society among others.

The Widener Art Gallery is located in the University Center on 14th Street between Walnut Street and Melrose Avenue. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The gallery will be closed April 18 and 19 for the Easter holiday. For more information about the exhibition, contact the Widener University Art Gallery at 610-499-1189 or visit www.widener.edu/artgallery.
