Chester remained
undefeated in Del Val League action with a 74-60 win over the host Chichester
Eagles. With the win, the Clippers improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in league
play. Senior Zahmir Carroll took the helm on Chichester Avenue recording a
double-double with a career high of 21 points and season high of 13 rebounds.
He also filled the stat sheet with 2 assists, 1 blocked shot and a career high
of 4 steals. Carroll has been instrumental during the current Clippers six game
win streak having scored double figures in 4 of the 6 games.
After an old fashioned
three point play by Carroll gave Chester the lead at 6-4, the Clippers sailed
on never to relinquish their lead. The Clippers led 21-9 after the first period
and 38-22 at the half. Rahmee Gilbert and Akeem Taylor Jr each scored eight
first half points as they went on to score 11 and 15.
Chester continued to
apply pressure at both ends of the court in the second half and after another
3-point play by Carroll gave the Clippers a 71-48 margin; it was time for the
reserves. Starters Fareed Burton Jr and Karell Watkins accounted for 7 and 8
points. Reserves Faheem Berry contributed 7 points and J'shon Lawler chipped in
with 5 points.
Chester will return to
the Clip Joint and continue league play on Thursday, January 16th with the
Interboro Bucs in town.
JV GAME RECAP
Chester's JV stretched
their win streak to 5 games and improved their record to 9-2 with an easy 57-40
win over the Eagles. Yinka Itabiyi and Donziar Ellis led the way with 11 and 10
points respectively. The Clippers led by 6 at the half, 23-17 but increased
their margin to 16 by the end of the third quarter, 40-24, behind two treys
from Naeem Scott Jr. Jermere Clark dropped in 4 of his 6 points in the quarter.
The other Chester
scorers were Naeem Scott Jr (9), Edward Harmon (8), Saahir McMillan (7), Nasir
Madison (5) and Lenny Camacho (1).
