Chester Boys Basketball loss to Aquinas



Chester - 56, Aquinas Institute - 60

The Clippers six game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Rochester Aquinas Institute (11-1) 56-60 at the Martin Luther King Jr. PA-NY Showcase in Erie, PA on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Chester (8-6) felt right at home on the campus of Erie McDowell High School with a 17 point 1st quarter led by senior Khaleeq Campbell and Marquis Collins who contributed 5 point apiece. The Clippers led at the end of the period 17-15. Ahrod Carter and Deshawn Hinson came off the bench in the second quarter and knocked down treys as the Clippers put up 12 points in the period but it was no enough as the Fighting Irish drained four treys and Chester trailed 29-31 at the half. Collins drained two more treys in the 3rd and Carter added another trey but Aquinas was still able to stretch their lead to 42-49 at the end of the quarter. Senior Jamal Jones came off the bench in the fourth and led the way and after his 7th point of the quarter the Clippers trailed 55-57 with 1:46 on the clock. After each team failed to score on the next possessions, Jamar Sudan connected on 1 of 2 free throws and Chester trailed 56-57. The Fighting Irish knocked down 3 of 4 free throws in the final 22 seconds to secure the win.

Marquis Collins and Ahrod Carter finished in double figures with 14 and 13 points respective. Jamal Jones added 9, Khaleeq Campbell finished with 7, Maurice Henry chipped in 5. Deshawn Hinson (3), Jamar Sudan (3) and Dymon Colbert (2) completed the Clippers scoring.
