60 Straight Wins for the Chester High Clippers Boys Basketball Team

The Clippers improved to 2-0 and kept their winning streak alive at 60 games by handing the Long Island, New York Lincoln Railsplitters (5-1) their first defeat of the season with a 70-52 victory. Senior forward Richard Granberry who earned MVP honors led the way in the first quarter with 6 of his 14 points as Chester held a 15-11 margin at the end of the period. Senior forward Rondae Jefferson took control in the 2nd quarter scoring half of his 14 points. Meanwhile junior point guard Conrad Chambers scored 6 of his tri-game high 14 points as the Clippers outscored the Railsplitters 19-15 to stretch their lead to eight points at the intermission 34-26. Rondae and Conrad combined to score 10 of Chester's 16 third quarter points as the Clippers pushed their to 50-39 to end the quarter. As the final quarter began, Rondae Jefferson had to leave the contest at the 7:03 mark with severe cramping.

Jefferson finished with his first double-double of the season pulling down 15 rebounds to go along with his 14 points and six steals. This opened the door for senior reserves Khalil Williams and James Kirksey to make an impact. Khalil, a 6'5" forward, dropped in 4 of his career high 10 points and he also hauled in a career high 6 rebounds. Meanwhile, 6'4" guard, Kirksey also contributed 4 of his career high 10 points and he also had a career high in rebounds with 8. Their contributions coupled with Granberry scoring 6 points along with four more from Conrad and the Clippers pulled away with a 20-13 quarter for the final margin. In total the Clippers put five players in double figures in the I-95 Elite Challenge held on the campus of Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. Senior guard Darius Robinson completed the scoring for the Clippers with six points.

The Clippers will continue south as they travel to Fort Myers, Florida to participate in the City Of Palms Invitational. Chester will open the tournament against Lake Highland Prep out of Orlando, Florida with a 10:00 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday, December 18th.
