CHESTER, Pa. – Widener University
will offer a free online course titled Emerging Educational Technology July 5
through Aug. 12. Designed for educators who teach or lead in K-12 schools,
institutions of higher education or businesses, this course allows participants
to explore emerging educational technologies to energize a classroom, district
or workplace.
As an asynchronous course, students
may complete the two-week course modules on their own schedule to earn three
credits. They also will experience Widener University’s one-year Instructional
Technology M.Ed. Program. This instructional technology master’s degree program
is offered fully online.
The free Emerging Educational
Technology course serves as an introduction for students to the new and
evolving educational technologies expected to have an impact on teaching and
learning in the next one to five years. Students will consider the affordances
of emerging technologies, the learning theories underlying their use and
potential obstacles to their implementation.
Students interested in registering for or learning more
about the course should e-mail Dr. Beverly Funkhouser, assistant professor, at bjfunkhouser@widener.edu.
