Chester Boys Basketball finishes 5th in District-1 AAAAA Tournament

Chester enters the PIAA AAAAA State Tournament as the District-1's 5th seeded team after the 48-45 victory over the Springfield Cougars. With the win the Clippers improved their record to 20-6 earning Coach Yarbray his 7th 20-win season in 9 years as the Head Coach. Senior Jamar Sudan led the Clippers in his final game at the Clip Joint with a 10 point, 11 rebounds double-double. Senior Jordan Camper rejected 3 shots giving him 102 blocks on the season thus becoming just the 2nd Clipper with over 100 blocks in a season since Jamar Milsap recorded 112 blocks during the 1992-1993 campaign. Senior Larry Yarbray Jr came off the bench to register a season high of 8 points. Sophomore point guard Michael Smith collected a career high 7 rebounds to go along with 7 points. The visiting Cougars scored knocked down their first two treys before senior Ahrod Carter connected with a trey to give the Clippers the lead for good at 7-6. Smith would score 5 points in the opening quarter for a 14-6 Chester lead. The Clippers spread the wealth in the 2nd quarter using six players to produce their 18 points to give them a 32-16 cushion at the intermission. The Cougars found their mark from long distance connecting on 7 treys in the second half outscoring the Clippers  29-16 but it wasn't enough. Seniors Yarbray and Camper would score 5 and 4 points respectively in the final quarter to seal the deal for the Clippers.

Chester will open the State Tournament on the road against the Milton Hershey Spartans who will represent District-3 as their #3 seed. The game will be played on Friday, March 10th at a place and time to be determined.
