Chester Boys Basketball sailed past Interboro

Chester - 81, Interboro - 35

The Clippers (14-4, 6-1) enjoyed the comforts of home as they sailed past the Interboro Buccaneers 81-35 at the Clip Joint. Senior Jordan Camper led five Clippers in double figures with 14 points. Reserves forwards, junior Timothy Johnston and sophomore Rahmaad DeJarnette came off the bench to register career highs of 13 and 12 points. Senior guards Ahrod Carter and Jah'meir Springfield completed the double digit scoring with 11 points apiece. Ten of the 12 Clippers were able to enter their names in the scoring column. Chester scored early and often jumping out to 26-2 first quarter lead; Carter (8), Camper (6) and Springfield (3) led the way. Sophomore Jaimhy Evans ran point for the second unit in the 2nd quarter as DeJarnette led with way with 6 points; he also finished the night with a career high 7 rebounds and the Clippers pushed the margin to 32 points at the half. Chester - 43, Interboro - 11. Johnston was most productive in the 3rd quarter where he scored 5 points to help hold off any attempts of a comeback by the Bucs and help increase their lead to 36 points. Chester used a balanced attack with six players scoring their 18 third quarter points. Chester - 61, Interboro - 26. Johnston opened the 4th quarter with an old-fashioned three point play and after Evans converted an Interboro turnover into a bucket, the Mercy Rule was in effect at the 7:20 mark. Chester - 66, Interboro - 26. Evans would score six points in the quarter to finish just shy of double figures with 8 points. Senior Larry Yarbray Jr. followed Evans by knocking down 2 free throws and then draining a long distance trey to finish with 5 points. Even with the Mercy Rule in place, the Clippers still managed to put up 20 points in the quarter.

The Clippers dished out a season high 20 assists on 34 made baskets led by sophomore Michael 'Man-Man' Smith with 5. Ten of the twelve players had a hand in the 20 assists.

Chester will continue league play at home on Thursday, February 2nd with the Chichester Eagles visit the Clip Joint. JV tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with the Varsity to follow.
