Report by Terry Thomas

Chester - 69, Wm. Penn York - 65

Chester (13-4) rebounded from their loss on Thursday with a 69-65 victory over the host William Penn York Bearcats. Sophomore Michael 'Man-Man' Smith showed why he carries the nickname with a game high 19 points and tying his young career high of 6 assist to led the way for the Clippers. Senior big man Jordan Camper proved too much for the Bearcats with a double-double of 18 points and he also tied a career high with 10 blocked shots. Senior forward Jamar Sudan added another double-double for the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Completing the double figure scoring for the Clippers was senior shooting guard who finished with 13 points and a career high 5 assists. The team continued its unselfish play with 14 assists on 21 made baskets. After a two hour plus bus ride coupled with the energized Bearcats the Clippers found themselves trailing 13-18 in the first quarter despite 6 points from Camper. Jayden Iturmendi led York with 11 of his team high 19 points.  The Clippers seemed to get their feet under them in the second quarter both offensively and defensively. First by holding Iturmendi scoreless and limiting the Bearcats to just 8 points and then by connecting long distance with four treys enroute to a 17 point quarter which allowed Chester to hold a 30-26 lead at halftime. Smith connected on two treys while Carter and Sudan each contributed 5 point and a trey apiece. The Bearcats regain their shooting touch in the 3rd quarter but 6 for 6 free throw shooting and a combined 19 points from Smith, Carter and Camper allow the Clippers to remain on top 49-46 at the end of the quarter. The Bearcats long range shooting came into play in the final quarter which allowed them to stay close but when they needed a basket down the stretch Camper was in the lane to reject their shots. He accounted for three blocked shots in the final minute and a half. The Clippers stayed hot at the free throw line connecting on 11 of 14 fourth quarter attempts to seal the victory. Sudan led the Clippers in the 4th with 9 points followed by Camper with 6 and Smith 's 4 including his career high 4th of the game.

Chester will return to the Clip Joint for League play on Tuesday, January 31st when the Interboro Bucs visit 9th & Barclay.
