Concordville, PA – Sunday, November 06, 2016, the
Chester High School Athletic Hall of Fame held a special ceremony for their 25th
anniversary. The Athletic Hall of Fame was the brain child of Dr. Dexter Davis
former Superintendent of Chester Upland School District, Jay Francis, and
Albert Francis who were original committee members along with Fred Pickett,
Lawson Showell, Angelo Tiburzi, and Keddy Harris. The first ceremony was held
in 1992 at the old Eyre YMCA in Chester, PA. The ceremony has been held at the
Concordville Inn since 1997. There have been 345 athletes inducted in the hall
of fame.
This year’s
inductees are:
Tracey
Johnson-Spence, Basketball 1982-1984 played 4 years of
varsity, 1st Team All Delco in 1984, Second Team All Delco in 1983,
and Honorable Mention in 1982.
Stacie
Hall-Hardy, Softball 1987-1991 played 4 years, 2 for
JV and 2 for varsity, and named All Delco Honorable Mention.
Kristen
Miah, Basketball 2001- 2005 played 4 years varsity, 2 times 1st
Team All Delco, 2 times Del Val Champion and Del Val MVP, and 3 times 1st
team All Del Val.
Richard
Myers, Sr. Football 1980-1984 played 3 years of
varsity, 2nd Team All Delco (linebacker) 1st Team All Del
Val, Co-Team Defense MVP, and Team Captain 3 year Scholar Athlete Awards: PIAA
Scholar.
Kevin
Thomas, Basketball 2000-2004 played 3 years of
varsity, and 1st Team All Delco 2004.
Eugene
Pinder, Football 1984-1988 played 3 years Varsity, Outstanding
Defense Player as a member of the 1986 Del Val Championship Team, and named to
the Hero Bowl All Star Game in 1988.
Walter
Hartshorn, Football 1984-1988 played 2 years
Varsity, 2nd Team All Delco, and Hero Bowl 1988.
Michael
Jackson, Football 1984-1988 played 2 years Varsity, 2nd
Team All Delco in 1988, All Delco Honorable Mention 1987, Team Captain 1988,
and Team Co-MVP 1988.
Raymond
Strickland, Basketball 1996-2000 played 1 year of Varsity,
All Delco Honorable Mention 2000, 3rd Team All Del Val 2000, and
integral part of the Clippers’ 2000 State Championship Team.
Tyrone
Gordon, Football 1980-1984 played 3 years of Varsity and 1st
Team All Delco Lineman.
Wilson
“Kent” Drake, Jr., Fred
Pickett Award Recipient, owner of Just Pizza and extensive community
involvement in Chester.
Charles
Thompson, Lawson Showell Special Service Award Recipient, President and founder of the Chester Panthers Youth Football Team, and 13 years serving over 200 youth.
Special recognition in memory of Robert Crawford who recently passed, “You will be missed but not forgotten. You were one of the crew members who guided the Clipper ship, Sail on Sail.”
