Public Stargazing Sessions



Widener University Observatory offers free public telescope viewings


CHESTER, Pa.-The Widener University Observatory resumes its public stargazing sessions this month. All are invited to see the stars, planets and other celestial wonders using the observatory’s 12- and 16-inch computerized reflecting telescopes. Widener astronomy professors, with assistance from undergraduate students, will be on hand to offer assistance.

Upcoming stargazing sessions include Monday twilight viewings on Sept. 12, 19 and 26 from 8-9 p.m.; Oct. 3, 10 and 17 from 7-8 p.m.; Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 6-7 p.m.; and Dec. 5 and 12 from 6-7 p.m. Friday evening sessions are also held the first Fridays of every month from 8-9 p.m.
