Last week Sonia Manzano who plays Maria on Sesame Street announced that she was retiring after 44 years. She started in 1971. I’m up in age and it didn’t seem possible that I was watching Sesame Street during that time. My children watched the show in the 80’s and 90’s. When I mentioned her retirement to them, they were less affected than I was. I thought the news was noteworthy because of the timeline. Manzano is 65 but she looks amazing. Not too many people get to hold down a job for 44 years but then they aren’t working on Sesame Street one of the best jobs ever. Best wishes on your retirement Sonia aka Maria.
