Concord Day Care Reunion

Dr. Donald Thomas and Darlene Thomas
Saturday, August 02, 2014, Concord Day Care had its reunion thanks to the organizational skills of Ms. Darlene Thomas. Ms. Thomas hosted the event with the assistance of some wonderful people like her son, Dr. Donald Thomas, who was the recent commencement speaker at the Chester High School graduation. The reunion was from 9am-3pm. A lot of people came through during the day to reminisce about their time at Concord Day Care. I know at one point my son came through here. The history of Concord was captured through many pictures on display.

In the words of Darlene Thomas:

Concord Day Care Center was founded in 1942 in the former Chester Friends Meetinghouse at Second and Market Street here in Chester. At that time, the building was renamed the Robert Wade Neighborhood House.  It has been an integral part of the Chester Community for over 60 years.

The slogan "It takes a Village to raise a Child" was never more timely as when Concord Day Care Center opened its doors and served this city, one happy child at a time.

Sure hope all the Concord family had a chance to stop by today.
