CHESTER, PA- Mayor John A. Linder will host Chester’s Annual 4th
of July Walk Run to begin the city sponsored holiday festivities. A change of
location, this year, will have the walk beginning at Flower Street and Seaport
Drive and proceeding 2.2 miles for all registered participants. Nova Timing
Systems will be sponsoring the electronically tracked chipped bibs that walkers
and runners will be wearing featuring their individual numbers and times of
completion. Chester Water Authority, Blessed Balloons, Linder Printing, Zinos
& Kudos, and Chester’s Safe Corridors Volunteers will cosponsor the event
in partnership with the Chester City Department of Public Affairs, providing
giveaways and awards for Adult, Teen, and Child participants. Fare & Square
Market joins the walk, this year, providing nutritious snacks for walkers.
“Our new features this year, including our tracked timing bibs,
portside venue, and snack provisions thanks to Fare & Square Market, along
with our outstanding volunteers, will make this walk a great way to start the

The Chester City Department of Parks, Public Property, &
Recreation, are pleased to present Chester’s 1st City Independence
Day Celebration. Following the annual walk run, events will continue at Chester
Park on Edgemont Avenue, Chester PA. Vendors, children’s activities, and
featured performances from recording artist Avant and DJ Kool, are all free to
the public beginning at 12PM and continuing to the fireworks finale at 9PM.
