Hospitality Students to Serve Healthy Lunches



Chester, Pa. – Eating healthy is a growing trend throughout America, which is why this semester’s Luncheon Series at Widener University, will offer an array of healthier options to its patrons.

The 2014 Spring Luncheon Series begins Tuesday, February 18 and students from the School of Hospitality Management are inviting the public to experience a nutritious and delicious lunch at an affordable cost.

The Luncheon Series includes a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts at reasonable prices each week. Served in the Marriott Dining Room, located on the first floor of Academic Center North on 17th Street between Walnut Street and Melrose Avenue on the Main Campus in Chester, the buffet-style lunches are prepared on the following Tuesday afternoons from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

February: 18 & 25
March: 11, 18,
April: 1, 8, 15 & 22

The students who are participating in the class will learn how to be creative and work with nutritious ingredients and will also have the opportunity to experience all aspects of operating a restaurant and food production management.  It will also teach them the importance of supporting local farmers not only to eliminate additional costs, but also to craft unique ways to serve up local flavor.
