Chester ends
their Del Val League schedule with a resounding 98-50 decision of the host
Chichester Eagles. With tonight's win Chester's record improves to 16-4 overall
and 8-2 in the League. Junior Keyonte Watkins led seven Clippers in the scoring
column in the first quarter with 10 of his 16 points. Senior guard Conrad
Chambers added his only five points of the day but dished 5 of his seven
assists as Chester raced out to a 27-11. Conrad's 7 assist matched his career
high. Chamber's back-court mate senior Mahir Johnson took the helm in the
second quarter dropping 12 of his game high 24 points as the Clippers pushed
their lead to 22 points. It was Chester - 47, Chichester - 22 at intermission.
Chester front-line of Tyrell Sturdivant and Gabe Adesina made their presence
felt on the inside in the 3rd quarter with 12 of their teams 21 points. Gabe
finished the afternoon with 8 points and career high 10 rebounds. Tyrell also
finished with 10 rebounds to go along with his 7 points. But it was a short
jump-shot by Mahir Johnson that got the Clipper faithful excited as he became
just the 30th member of Chester's elite boys 1,000 Point Club. In the fourth
period, senior Brewster Ward produced a career highs with 10 points and 7
rebounds. Junior forward Quran Foreman also enjoyed a career high of 8 points
with two treys. Ten of the 11 Chester players who saw action in the contest
placed their name in the scoring column. Sophomores Khaleeq Campbell (8) and
Marquis Collins (7) were joined by freshman Jamar Sudan (5) to complete
Chester's scoring.
Chester will participate in the PrimeTime Shootout at Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, NJ this weekend when they take on Lakewood (NJ) on Saturday, February 8th and Union Catholic (NJ) on Sunday February 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 on Saturday and 12:00 on Sunday.
The Clippers will use this weekend to prepare themselves for the upcoming District-1 Tournament. The District Seeding meeting is slated for Sunday, February 9th and the matchups will be announced on Sunday evening.
