CHESTER, PA- Hon. Mayor John A. Linder, Chester City Fire Commissioner James
Johnson and Police Commissioner Joseph Bail Jr. have assumed emergency status
response position for the winter storm impacting the tri-state area. Chester
Residents are encouraged to stay off area streets and indoors unless absolutely
necessary, in order to help facilitate highway crew efforts to clear roadways.
PENNDOT, Chester City Department of Public Works, and contracted crews are
undertaking clearing operations throughout the city, and expected to continue
into the evening hours. Residents are encouraged to keep flashlight and
batteries in an accessible, dry area, charge cell phones for emergency use, and
clear snow away from fire hydrants in front of their homes, and on their
streets. Residents are also asked to shovel walkways in front of their homes,
and refrain from shoveling snow into the streets. In the event of an emergency,
citizens are instructed to telephone 911.
