Benefit to Support Chester Physical Therapy Clinic

Run Like a Fool to Support the Chester Community Physical Therapy Clinic
--April 1 Race at Widener to Raise Money for Clinic--

CHESTER, Pa. The Institute for Physical Therapy Education at Widener University will host a 5K race on April 1 to benefit the student-run Chester Community Physical Therapy Clinic. The nonprofit clinic provides physical therapy care to the uninsured and underinsured residents of Chester, Pa., and surrounding communities. Physical therapy students, under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, provide services for community members who are unable to obtain services from local physical therapy clinics due to the their uninsured status or exhausted insurance benefits.

Race participants can either walk or run the course, which weaves through Widener’s Main Campus in Chester. All participants should meet at the start location, which is the Widener University Wellness Center located at 17th Street and Melrose Avenue. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start.

Participants who register online by March 18 will receive a free t-shirt and pay a $20 entry fee. Day-of registration is $25. Those unable to attend the race can still participate as a “virtual runner” by signing up online. All runners, walkers and “virtual” participants should register prior to March 18 on Active.com. For more information, also visit http://chestercommunitypt.com or contact Jeffrey Cain, ’13, at jscain@mail.widener.edu.

Donations to the Chester Community Physical Therapy Clinic can also be made at alumni.widener.edu/probonoclinicgive. Donations of $100 or more made by March 18 will be considered a sponsorship, and the name of the donor(s) will appear on the race t-shirt.
