Widener University President Elected to CASE Board of Trustees

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Members of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education have elected James T. Harris III, president of Widener University, as trustee-at-large to the CASE Board of Trustees for a three-year term.

Prior to his presidency at Widener University, Harris served as president of Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. He has held numerous senior advancement positions, including vice president for advancement at Wright State University and vice president for advancement at the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Harris is one of 12 trustees elected to the board by CASE membership via electronic ballot. The results were announced July 11 during the association’s annual membership meeting in Chicago. The 30-member board sets CASE policies, approves the annual budget and ensures sound management of the organization.

Harris is an active member of CASE and recipient of the 2011 CASE District II Executive Leadership Award.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in London, Singapore and Mexico City, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and other areas.

Today, CASE's membership includes more than 3,400 colleges, universities, independent elementary and secondary schools, and educational associates in 74 countries around the world.
