Chester Upland Teachers Return to the Classroom

Good News in a recent board meeting, 35 teachers were listed to return to the district. The Delcotimes has written an article.

Here are some excerpts from the article:

A list of 35 names printed in the meeting’s agenda showed which of the 171 teachers furloughed at the end of the 2010-2011 school year could come back for the 2011-2012 year.

“We worked very hard. This has been very difficult for us. We have to live within the means of our income,” said Chester Upland School District Superintendent Dr. Joyce Wells.

“We can’t stretch the money any more than we have. And we’re grateful to be able to bring some of our teachers back. We never said we were satisfied with the cuts … If I had my way,” Wells said, “I would love to bring more people back.”
