Superintendent Dr. Joyce Wells with the CUSD School Board |
The Board Meeting held last evening was very tame and civilized, at times pleasant and humorous. An average number of people turned out for the meeting. A number of layoffs were listed in the agenda. However, news was announced that State Senator Dominic Pileggi restored $10.5 million of the $20 million proposed cuts. The restored funds may allow some staff who was furloughed to be called back to work.
The meeting only lasted an hour. The projected 2010-2011 operating cost is $114 million. The school board passed a $96.124 million operating budget which is still $18 million less in projected revenues from the previous year.
