Chester Upland School District Class of 2012 Junior Social

Ramada Inn

All three high schools, Chester High, Smedley Allied Health, and Showalter Science and Discovery met last night to mix it up at the Junior Social (AKA Jr. Prom). The theme was Mardis Gras Under the Stars. It was held at the Ramada Inn in Essington.

The Social was a very elegant event. The event gave students a chance to socialize in a safe environment. The fashions were fabulous as young ladies and young men coordinated their outfits. Students enjoyed music by Mac Associates. They had a great meal served by the hotel staff. Superintendent Dr. Joyce Wells who gave the welcome also came out to see her students she had seen grow up over the years. As she greeted them, I asked her, “Are they yours?” She knew what I meant from years of teaching and being a principal. She said gushing like a proud parent, “A lot of them are. I don’t forget them and they don’t forget me.”

The Junior Social was a nice event thanks in part to the advisors from each school. Chaperones also helped out and parental support was provided for the event. Students conducted themselves well. Fun was had by all while at the Social. Congratulations to all for such a successful event.
