Rotary Club Student of the Month 3

Dr. Alonzo Cavin and Martin Turner
The Rotary Club of Chester held their monthly Student of the Month Luncheon today in the Cove at Harrah’s. The Rotary Student of the Month for February is Martin Turner. Martin is involved in many activities at Chester High School. To say that his credentials are very impressive is not enough. Martin holds a GPA of 3.65. He has already started college courses. He passed a college math course last summer with a grade of 96.4%, the highest in his class. He is currently taking two AP courses for college credit. He has already been accepted to Widener University. He is not only academically gifted, here is a list of his athletic abilities and other activities: Captain of the Football and Track Teams; Del-Val MVP; Clipper Spirit Award; President of the Rotary Club at CHS; Co-Captain of the HI-Q Team; Member of the TV Club and Yearbook Team; held a seat on the City of Chester Junior City Council; and Voluntary defensive Coach for the 135th Chester Township Cougars Team.

Guest Speaker and Rotary member was Mark Mitchell, Director of Emergency Preparedness at Crozer Chester Medical Center. He spoke about Health Care Economics. The description of the health care system has 4 functions. These four parties struggle over control. The four parties are the patient (beneficiaries), the provider (hospitals and doctors), third party payers (government and insurance companies), and the buyers (health care companies). We all learned a little bit more about the health care system.

Congratulations Martin for your Student of the Month Award. Thank you Chester Rotary Club for another wonderful luncheon.
