Chester Clippers Boys Basketball streak lives on

Chester continues their roll in 2018 with a 57-51 decision over the Glen Mills Battlin' Bulls. In doing so the Clippers move to 3-0 in Del Val League play and 7-5 overall. The win streak is now at 6 games. The dynamic duo of junior Michael Smith and senior Brian Randolph III was too much for the Bulls to handle. The pair combined to score 44 points. Randolph got the Clippers started scoring 9 of his 11 points in the opening quarter from a variety of spots. He connected on two treys, 1 of 2 from the free throw line and he knocked down amid range jumper. The first quarter ended deadlocked at 13. With the game pace slowed, the Clippers went to the bench where Isaiah Schmidt, Zahmir Carroll and Javan Graham added their names to the scoring column with 3, 2 and 1 point respectively. Four points from Smith allowed the Clippers to hold a slim 23-22 lead at intermission. Smith began to take control in the 3rd quarter with 10 of the team's 14 points. Randolph and Timothy Johnston each contributed a bucket to give Chester a 37-35 margin going into the final quarter. The Clippers increased their defensive pressure and opened the 4th quarter with a 8-1 run forcing Glen Mills into their 2nd timeout of the quarter at 4:05. It was also their last timeout. The run consisted of a bucket from Carroll and three buckets from Smith. The Bulls failed to score out of the timeout and Carroll completed an old-fashioned three-point play to give the Clippers their biggest lead of the night 48-36. Carroll finished with 7 points on the afternoon. From here Chester spread the floor and put the ball in the hands of Smith who connected of 9 of 10 free throws for the final Chester points and sealed the victory. Smith finished with 15 of the team's 20 4th quarter points in route to a new career high of 33 points.

The team finished with 11 assists on 19 made baskets.

The Clippers continue league play on Thursday, January 18th when they travel to the 'Shoebox on Essex Ave' to take on the Penn Wood Patriots.
