Chester
- 63, Bartram - 41
The Chester Clippers defeated the Bartram
Braves 63-41 on senior night to move to 16-4 on the season. Playing their final
regular season game at the Clip Joint, this year’s crop of senior were sure to
make it their best. A senior dominated the scoring in each of the quarters and
they accounted for 9 of the team's 10 made 3-points. Senior Ahrod Carter led
the way in the first quarter with 6 points and senior Jamar Sudan drained a
trey as the Clippers led 13-11 at the end of the quarter. In typical Chester fashion
they increased their defense in the 2nd quarter holding the Braves to 8 points
as senior Jah'meir Springfield took control producing his 7 points with 2 treys
and senior Larry Yarbray Jr also connected on a trey. Chester went to
intermission with a 29-19 lead. Chester used their inside presence with senior
Jordan Camper patrolling the paint with 6 points and continued to knock down
shots from distance with Carter draining two more treys. Sudan completed his
scoring by adding 4 points to his 7 for the game. The Clippers stretched their
lead to 15 points at the end of the quarter. Chester - 45, Bartram - 30.
Sophomore Michael Smith opened the 4th quarter with a trey followed by three
consecutive treys from Carter that erased any thoughts of a comeback by the
Braves. Bartram called timeout at 4:21 trailing 57-35. Smith added another bucket to
finish with 7 points and Camper slammed home a two-handed thunder dunk for this
14th point. Sophomore Jamihy Evans added his name to the scoring column as he
stole a pass and threw down a one-hand dunk to end the contest.
Ahrod Carter finished with a career high 21
points. The team dished out 17 assists on 24 made baskets led by Michael Smith,
Jamar Sudan and Jah'meir Springfield who all tied season highs with 6, 5 and 3
assists respectively.
Chester will return to league action on Tuesday, February 7th
when they travel to Glenolden to take on the Academy Park Knights. The JV will
tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
