Chester Clippers Boys Basketball opened Del Val League with a win

Chester 61, Penn Wood - 53

The Chester Clippers opened Del Val League action with a 61-53 victory over the visiting Penn Wood Patriots. While Jamar Sudan led the way with a game high 16 points, it was the dominating inside presence of Jordan Camper that set the tone for the game. Camper established the paint as his domain in the opening quarter recording 6 of his 7 blocked shots resulting in the Patriots resorting to jump shot to stay in the game.  With the Patriots able to hit from long range, Chester found themselves trailing 15-17 after the 1st quarter. Senior Ahrod Carter and sophomore Michael Smith led the Clippers with 5 and 4 points respectively. Sophomore Jaimhy Evans came off the bench in the 2nd quarter with 4 of his 6 points and the team were knotted at 27 at the intermission. During the break the Patriots found their shooting touch once again outscoring the Clippers 15-13 and Chester trailed after 3, 40-42. The Clippers started the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run capped by steal and a toma-hawk dunk by Sudan forcing a Patriot timeout at 5:26, Chester - 48, Penn Wood - 42. The Clippers would not relinquish their lead. Chester's 21 point outburst in the final quarter would be shared by 6 players including a couple two handed flushes by Camper who finished with 8 points. Carter would add 5 of his 13 and Smith 4 of his 11 to join Sudan in double figures. Although he only scored 5 points, junior Brian Randolph III made his presence felt on the boards recording 10 rebounds. Camper and Sudan each picked grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Clippers will continue league play on Thursday, January 12th when they travel to Glenolden to take on the Interboro Bucs.
