Chester Boys Basketball falls to Mastery Charter North

Report by Terry Thomas

Chester 45, Mastery Charter North 60

The Chester Clippers (9-3) five game win streak came to a halt at the hands Mastery Charter North Pumas (17-0) 60-45. With Brian Randolph and Jamar Sudan leading the way for Chester with 5 and 4 points respectively, the teams were tied at 14 at the end of the first quarter. Both teams clamped down defensively but the Clippers had too many unforced errors resulting in a 3 point quarter. The Pumas did manage to score 9 points and Chester trailed at intermission 17-23. Sophomore Michael Smith tried to keep the Clippers afloat in the 3rd quarter with 6 of his 8 points but it was not nearly enough as the Pumas caught fire with a 26 point outburst. At the end of the 3rd quarter the Clippers found themselves trailing by their largest deficit of the season 27-49. Chester continued to fight in the final quarter with Jah'meir Springfield leading the way with all 8 of his points but their 18 point quarter was not enough. Senior Jamar Sudan led the Clippers with 11 points, Ahrod Carter added 6 with Jordan Camper and Rahmaad DeJarnette finishing the scoring with 4 and 3 points respectively.

The Clipper will return to action on the road for an afternoon Del Val League game against the Chichester Eagles. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
