Chester

The Chester Clippers sailed past the
Interboro Bucs 85-28 to improve their record to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in league
play. Tonight's
win marked the 200th career win for Coach Yarbray. Senior Ahrod Carter was just
as hot as the temperature outside connecting for 11 of his 18 points in the
opening quarter with three treys. Fellow senior Jah'meir Springfield also hit
from long distance with two treys and sophomore Jaimhy Evans starting for
injured Jamar Sudan knocked down 4 of his career high 11 points. With Chester's
defense in full force limiting the Bucs to a mere 5 points, the Clippers
sprinted out to a 26-5 first quarter lead. The onslaught continued in the 2nd
quarter with Evans, Springfield and Carter adding to their totals with 5, 4,
and 3 points respectively. Senior Tyrel Lennon connected on his first trey of
the season and sophomore Rahmaad DeJarnette and senior Jordan Camper each
contributed a bucket as Chester took a 45-15 lead into intermission. Chester
maintained their defensive stronghold on the Bucs in the 3rd quarter again
limiting them to 5 points while producing 21 of their own. This time it was
junior Brian Randolph III at the helm scoring all 9 of his points, seniors
Carter and Camper dropped in 4 points apiece before calling it a night. Camper
finished the game with 9 points. Evans and sophomore Michael Smith each
contributed a bucket before ending their night in the 3rd quarter. Smith
finished with 4 points and the 'Mercy-Rule' came into play with the Clippers
leading 66-20. With the starters resting, Springfield became the show in the
final quarter dropping buckets from long and short distance enroute to 10 of
his season high 20 points. Lennon dropped in a try and DeJarnette added 6
points for the final margin of 85-28.
The Clippers finished with season highs of 16
assists, 18 steals and 12 treys. Shooting guard Carter also finished with a
career high 7 rebounds.
Chester next contest will be on Saturday, January 14th
when they travel to take on the District-3 power Harrisburg Cougars. JV will
tipoff at 5:00
with the Varsity to follow.
