Chester
70, Glen Mills 50
The Chester Clippers (12-3) completed the
first half of league play at 5-0 with a decisive 70-50 victory over the
visiting Glen Mills Battlin Bulls. Senior Jordan Camper got the Clippers
started with an alley-oop from sophomore Michael Smith and Chester never looked
back. Smith handed out 4 of his 5 assists in the opening quarter as Chester
sprinted out to a 23-12 lead. Senior Jamar Sudan and junior Brian Randolph III
led the Clippers with 7 points apiece, a trey and a couple free throws
accounted for senior Ahrod Carter's points. Sophomore Jaimhy Evans dropped in a
layup to complete the scoring. Sophomore Rahmaad DeJarnette came off the bench
to lead the team in the second quarter where he scored all 7 of his points as
Chester increased its lead to 17 at the half. Chester - 44, Glen Mills - 27.
Sudan drove the lane for his final six points in the 3rd with a trey from
senior Tyrel Lennon and buckets from Smith, Camper and junior Timothy Johnston
enabled the Clippers to further extend their lead to 21 at the end of the 3rd
quarter. Chester - 59, Glen Mills - 38. The Clippers went long distance in the
final quarter with senior Jah'meir Springfield connecting on two treys and
Johnston added a trey. Evans added two more points to finish with 4 on the
night.
Sudan accounted for another double-double
cleaning the boards with 10 rebounds to go along with his game high 17 points.
Randolph finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds and Camper who suffered an eye
injury in the first quarter tallied 4 points, 3 blocked shots and 4 rebounds.
The team finished the night with 14 assists on 26 made baskets. Ten of the 12
Clippers who saw action entered their name in the scoring column.
Chester continues league play on Thursday, January 26th
when the travel to the 'Shoebox' on Essex Ave to take on the Penn Wood
Patriots.
