Chester (4-1) suffers its first loss of the
season at the hands of the MCS Mighty Elephants 53-65 in the nightcap of the
inaugural Rondae Hollis-Jefferson Classic. The Clippers took control 18-8 in
the first quarter led by senior Jordan Camper with 6 of his team high 17
points. With MCS getting hot in the 2nd quarter, Chester was able to spread 13
points among 6 different plays to hold off the Elephants and take a 31-26 lead
into intermission. For the first time this season the Clippers were not hitting
their mark in the 3rd quarter scoring less than 20 points. With junior Brian
Randolph III scoring 8 of career high 12 points in the period, Chester was able
to stay close trailing by one 41-42 at the end of the quarter. Chester
continued to slip at both ends of the floor and if not for the 7 points scored
by Camper they would have not reached double digits for the first time this
season. Senior dominated MCS knocked down 10 of 12 free throws in the final
quarter to secure the win.
Jordan Camper finished the night with another
double-double bring down 10 rebounds to go along with his 17 points. He also
rejected 5 shots to walk away with the team MVP honors for the night. While he
had an off night offensively scoring just 6 points, senior Jamar Sudan recorded
his fifth double digit rebounding night as he led the Clippers with 12 boards.
Jah'meir Springfield came off the bench to record 7 points. Senior Ahrod Carter
and junior Rahmaad DeJarnette each contribued 4 points with sophomore Jaimhy
Evans completed the scoring with 3 points. Chester continued to share the ball
recording 12 assists on 19 made baskets.
Chester will return to action on Thursday, December 29th
when they take on the Abington Ghost in the 12th Annual Pete Nelson Classic on
the campus of Widener University. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m.
Merry Christmas !
