The mentors (Earl Carter, Darren Laws, and Ronald Simonson) of the CHAMP group held their first annual Achievement Banquet on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Chester High School. The purpose was to celebrate the group’s service. CHAMP has done a lot within the school year. Fresh off their recent trip to Washington, D. C., they went to the Justice Department for the second year and met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch. They helped seniors during the holidays. They went to Maryland to meet with other mentoring groups for a workshop and to visit the Kevin Durant's Seat Pleasant Activity Center. So this was a time to celebrate their service. Highlights of the banquet are shown in the Video with the new principal, Dr. Tanya Butler, speaking to the group and the CHAMPS Band playing jazz music.
