Widener’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Relocates from Exton to Chester Campus

Open House Set for July 11
Institute Offers Intellectual Stimulation and Social Interaction for Mature Adults

CHESTER, Pa. — Widener University has relocated its Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) from Exton to its Main Campus in Chester. Individuals ages 50 years and older who are interested in learning more about the learning and social opportunities offered through OLLI are invited to stop by an Open House between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, July 11 in the University Center Webb Room. The University Center is located on E. 14th Street between Walnut Street and Melrose Avenue in Chester.
Widener has moved OLLI to its Main Campus in Chester to accommodate the tremendous growth of the Institute since its opening in 2005. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Widener University provides opportunities for intellectual development, cultural stimulation, personal growth, civic engagement and social interaction for mature adults in an academic cooperative run by its members who volunteer their time and talents. The Institute predominately features classes developed and led by its members.
OLLI classes already scheduled for the fall on Widener’s Main Campus cover a range of topics: The American Past: Myth and Reality, Gentle Yoga for Seniors, History Face to Face, Broadway Musicals of the 1980s and Making Friends with the Zodiac.
“Relocating OLLI to Widener’s Main Campus will allow new individuals to take advantage of the OLLI courses and the fun and engaging social activities offered to members from a weekly speaker series to field trips throughout the region,” said Matt Weidman, OLLI director. “Furthermore, the move will allow existing and new OLLI members entrée to university opportunities and resources such as the Wolfgram Memorial Library, the Widener University Art Gallery and the Widener Observatory.”
The July 11 Open House will allow interested participants to meet OLLI instructors, learn more about the fall 2016 courses and become familiar with OLLI’s new home on Widener’s Main Campus. Light refreshments will be served.
Widener’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will continue to offer courses at retirement communities throughout Chester County where partnerships currently exist, and the Institute looks to build new partnerships with retirement communities and senior centers in Delaware County. Anyone who works with seniors in Delaware County is encouraged to attend the Open House or contact OLLI to explore such a partnership.
To reserve a spot, or to learn more, call 610-499-4370, or e-mail olli@widener.edu. Also visit www.widener.edu/olli.
