Chester Boys Basketball moves on to State Quarter Finals



Chester - 74, Spring-Ford - 49

The Chester Clippers (22-7) sailed into the State Quarter-Finals with a decisive 74-49 victory over the Spring-Ford Rams at Cheltenham High School. Chester will face the Reading Red Knights who defeated Emmaus; the game will be play on Saturday, March 12th at a Site and Time to be determined.

Junior Jamar Sudan led the way for the Clippers with 9 of his game high 15 points in the opening quarter. After a Spring-Ford timeout at 5:20 in the 1st and Chester leading 9-8, the Clippers responded with a 10-1 run over the next 2:17 forcing the Rams into their second timeout of the quarter now trailing 19-9 at the 3:03 mark. The back-court of Deshawn Hinson and Stanley Davis contributed four points apiece and a two handed flush by Maurice Henry accounted for the remaining Chester points. Chester - 19, Spring-Ford - 11. In the 2nd quarter Khaleeq Campbell, Ahrod Carter, Jahmi Bailey-Green and Sudan each contributed a bucket and Marquis Collins connected on 1 of 2 free throws to keep the Rams at bay. Chester took a 28-23 lead into intermission. The Rams had no answer for Deshawn Hinson in the 3rd quarter where he knocked down 6 of his 12 points as Chester pushed their lead back to double digits at 11 points with 3:52 remaining in the period (38-27). Collins and Henry each contributed 4 with Campbell and Davis adding 2 points apiece and the Clippers maintained their 11 point lead at the end of the period. Chester - 46, Spring-Ford - 35. The Clippers were not going to be denied the opportunity to play another day as the doubled the Rams 28-14 in the final quarter to blow this one away. Marquis Collins added his name to the double figure scorers with 9 of his 14 points in the period. After stretching their lead to 14 points, 60-46, at 2:40; Chester used the Spring-Ford timeout to re-energize and the results was a 9-2 run over the next 1:10 forcing yet another Rams timeout. Clippers - 69, Rams - 48. Dymon Colbert completed the games scoring with a dunk for 2 of his 4 points.

Chester dominated the paint in this contest limiting the Rams to very few second chance opportunities. Jamar Sudan finished with a double double by hauling in 10 rebounds to go along with his 15 points. He also blocked 2 shots and came away with a steals. Maurice Henry was also big in the paint with 8 rebounds. The Clippers used team-work on the offensive end recording 15 assists on 28 made baskets. Khaleeq Campbell and Stanley Davis led with the way the 6 and 4 assists respectively.
