The 9th
seeded Chester Clippers (20-7) fell short in the quest for the District
Championship at the hands of the #2 seeded Plymouth Whitemarsh (25-2) Colonials
68-57. The loss snapped the Clippers 12 game winning streak. Chester could not
find their footing in the first quarter both offensively and defensively as
they fell behind 7-12. Marquis Collins returned to action after missing 4 week
due a shoulder injury to spark the Clippers with 8 of his 12 points in the 2nd
quarter. Fellow senior Khaleeq Campbell also got hot with 7 of his 11 points. A
trey from Deshawn Hinson and a slam by Jordan Camper enabled Chester to take a
33-31 lead into intermission. Stanley Davis led the way in the 3rd quarter with
7 of his team high 18 points and another trey from Hinson helped the Clippers
push their lead to four points at the end of the 3rd quarter, Chester - 48,
Plymouth - 44. There was no wind in the sails for the Clippers in the fourth
quarter as they could only muster 9 points but allowed the Colonials to score
24 including 11 for 16 from the charity stripe. Chester junior Jamar Sudan who
was saddled with foul trouble all evening did manage to score a bucket in the
4th quarter before fouling out of the contest. Khaleeq Campbell joined him
shortly thereafter with his 5th foul of the night. Meanwhile the Clippers had
another bad night at the line only connecting on 5 of 10. The night ended with
the Clippers being awarded the Silver Medal as the 2nd place team in
District-1.

The season is not over for the Clippers. With the loss they will enter the State AAAA Championship Playoff which starts next Saturday, March 5th once classified as the Western half of the bracket. The Chester Clippers will open the State Playoffs against the Hempfield Black Knights from Landesville, Pa and District-3.

March 5th, 3:00 pm at Interboro H.S. in Glenolden, PA.
