Chester Boys Basketball wins over Interboro

Chester (10-6) remained undefeated at 5-0 in Del Val League action with a drubbing of the Interboro Bucs 92-42. Senior Stanley Davis returning to the starting lineup after missing the last two games due to illness took control scoring 9 of his 14 points in the opening period. Senior Marquis Collins knocked down a couple field goals and kept his hot streak alive at the charity line going 4 of 4 and the Clippers sailed out to a 25-13 first quarter advantage. Chester bench did the majority of damage in the 2nd quarter led by senior Donald Hodges who drained two treys for 6 of his 9 points. Junior Larry Yarbray Jr also knocked down a trey and fellow junior Shaquan Francis scored off an offensive rebound as the bench scored 12 of the team 13 2nd quarter points. At the half: Chester - 38, Interboro - 24. The Clippers started the 3rd with one of their patented 8-0 runs that was only stopped by the Bucs timeout at 6:54. Chester now led 46-24. Chester would outscore their opponent 15-7 to push their lead to 30 points at 61-31 with 2:10 on the clock. The Clippers ended the quarter with a 6-2 edge and a 67-33 lead. Khaleeq Campbell added 8 of his 11 points, Collins contributed 7 and Davis added 5. In total seven different Clippers combined to score the team 29 third quarter points. With the starters now playing the role of cheerleaders, the bench remained focused on both the defensive and offensive ends of the court holding the Bucs to a mere 9 points while scoring 25 of their own. Jahmi Bailey-Green led the way with 6 points, Ahrod Carter and Deshawn Hinson each contribued 5, Shaquan Francis added 4 with Hodges (3) and Yarbray (2) completing the scoring.

Chester really demonstrated team play this evening with 22 assists on 34 made baskets. The 22 assists are a season high.

The Clippers will look to hold home court and maintain first place in the Del Val with they entertain the Chichester Eagles who are also undefeated (5-0) in league action. Chester will play host to Chichester in a rare weekday matinee on Friday, January 22, 2016. The game time moved up due to the projected weekend storm. The JV will tip-off at 3:30 with the Varsity to follow.  See you at the Clip Joint ... it should be a good one.
