Chester Boys Basketball wins over Bartram

Chester - 69, Bartram - 49

Returning home to the Clip Joint is just what Chester (3-5) needed to stop their 3 game losing stretch as the Clippers sailed away from the Bartram Braves 69-49. The packed house witnessed both the return of Chester basketball with their patented fast break offense and smothering defense and the retirement of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson's #23 jersey. Senior Dymon Colbert took advantage of his first start at home with 5 of his 7 points in the opening quarter. Junior Jamar Sudan added four and five other Clippers added their names to the scoring column as Chester jumped out to a 20-16 lead to end the quarter. Coach Yarbray went to his bench in the second quarter where the reserves 16 of the teams 21 points. Their defensive energy was also on display as they limited Bartram to just 3 points in the quarter. Senior Donald Hodges led the way with three treys followed by Larry Yarbray Jr. who also drained a trey. Junior Jordan Camper dropped in a deuce and with fellow forward senior Jamal Jones. Halftime: Chester - 41, Bartram - 19. Senior Marquis Collins rested from watching the 2nd quarter exploded with 8 of his 11 points and fellow seniors Khaleeq Campbell and Stanley Davis contributed 5 and 4 points respectively as the Clippers stretch their lead to 30 points at 60-30. In the final period Larry Yarbray Jr knocked down another trey to add to his 8 points on the night and junior Shaquan Francis came off the bench to score 2 points.

Marquis Collins finished with a double-double by hauling in 10 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. He also had a career high of 6 assists. Stanley Davis tied his career high of 4 assists as the team dished out a total of 16 assists on 28 made baskets.

Chester will open Del Val League play on Tuesday, January 5th when the Clippers play host to the Interboro Bucs. JV tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 with the Varsity to follow.
