Chester Boys Basketball sails pass Interboro

The confines of the Clip Joint once again helped power the sails of the Clippers (4-5 overall, 1-0 League) as they cruised to a 73-25 rout of the visiting Interboro Buccaneers. Senior Dymon Colbert starting in his second consecutive game led the way in the first with 5 of his 7 points and fellow senior Jamal Jones came off the bench to contribute 4 of his 6 points. Chester was too strong inside for Interboro with 14 of their 17 first quarter points coming from inside the paint. A trey from Stanley Davis finished off the scoring in the period. The Clippers defense was also on display as they finished the quarter on a 11-2 run. Chester 17, Interboro - 6. The Clippers were all ahead full in the 2nd quarter, after a quick 7-4 start the Bucs called for a timeout at the 5:24 mark and trailing 24-10. The 30 second break allowed the Clippers to regroup resulting in a classic Chester 14-1 run forcing yet another timeout at 2:46 and a score of 38-11. Chester outscored Interboro 11-4 out of the timeout for a 49-15 score at the intermission. Nine Clippers scored in their 32 points 2nd quarter with their bench scoring 30 points. The outburst was led by senior Donald Hodges and his 7 points, Maurice Henry added 6 and Ahrod Carter contributed 5. Jahmi Bailey-Green dropped in 3 and juniors Larry Yarbray Jr, Jordan Camper and Shaquan Francis each had two points. Chester's defense coupled with a Jamar Sudan putback after a missed shot at the 4:46 mark and the Mercy Rule was on - Chester 58, Interboro 17. Chester closed the quarter on a 5-0 run. The Chester bigs were on display in the final period as they scored the teams final 10 points of the contest. Leading the way was junior Jordan Camper who thrilled the crowd with three outstanding dunks including a Dwight Howard Superman dunk. Jones and Francis each scored inside.

Thirteen of the fourteen Chester players who saw action scored in the contest led by senior Marquis Collins with 10 points and another double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds. He also finished with 5 assists and 3 blocked shots. The team distributed the ball well accounting for 17 assists on 31 made baskets.
