Watoto Children's Choir "Oh, What Love"

Picture of Watoto's life size poster outside St. Daniels

Watoto Child Care Ministries was formed out the local Watoto Church in 1994 by founder Gary Skinner due to war torn conditions in Uganda. "I was reminded of the verse in James 1:27 that says, 'Religion that God the Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after the orphan and the widow in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world'." Watoto takes a holistic approach to helping orphaned children and helpless women in Uganda. Its purpose is to rescue individuals, raise each one to lead, and to rebuild their nation. The Watoto program takes care of the individual’s medical, educational, psychological, and spiritual needs. Since the forming of the Watoto Children's Choir, they have travelled worldwide to advocate for the children of Africa. On Thursday, June 18, they performed at the St. Daniel’s United Methodist Church in Chester, PA. These children were energetic singing uplifting music of hope. Their message of hope, if you are feeling fatherless, remember your true father in heaven.

CUSA Fundraiser for New Playground (Video)

New Playground Fundraiser for CUSA at Waterfront in Chester

CUSA Dancers

A nice organized event took place on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Chester Waterfront. SIG Combibloc was the sponsor for the 1st Annual Chester Upland School of the Arts (CUSA) Happy Hour. This was a Chester Community Outreach project to benefit the students of CUSA. “SIG Combibloc is a global food and beverage packaging company located in Chester, Pa. SIG believes in uniting the community, compassionate people, and companies into a sustainable partnership that increases educational opportunities all young people deserve.” CUSA is a public school in the Chester Upland School District which provides arts, dance, and education for students. “One of the school’s major challenges is the lack of a safe outdoor playground for children to play, be physically active, and release surplus-energy and stress.” The goal of the event was for SIG to raise $50,000 to rebuild CUSA’s playground before classes start in September 2015. At the time of the fundraiser, the organization had raised $24,000 almost half of the targeted goal. SIG organized a true happy hour with food, drinks, music, and games with a great view from the waterfront. See video Here
