Welcome Back Terry Thomas and thank
you for your reports
With eleven returning players, this
year's edition of the Chester High Clippers look to rebound from last year's
disappointing 14-11 season. The Clippers are eager to return to the dominance
that is known to exist on the corner of 9th and Barclay. The nine seniors on
the roster will provide the maturity that is needed to fight through the
grueling schedule that Coach Yarbray has put together. They will be led by
senior point guard Khaleeq Campbell who was out after the seventh game of last
season due to injury. Along with their maturity this edition of the Clippers
will also have size. Joining their 5'8" point guard will be 6'4" and
6'7" guards Stanley Davis and Marquis Collins along with 6'6" and
6'8" forwards Jamar Sudan and Maurice Henry. Looking to log valuable
minutes will be 5'11" shooting guard Ahrod Carter, 6'3" swingman
Jahmi Bailey-Green, power forwards 6'3" Dymon Colbert and 6'5" Jamal
Jones. This unit will be controlled by a newcomer in the form of 5'10"
point guard Larry Yarbray Jr. The Clippers will also depend on the outside
shooting of 6'3" guards Deshawn Hinson and another new face, Donald
Hodges. Chester will be patient as they wait for 6'8" junior forward
Jordan Camper to fully recover from off-season surgery on his hand.
Chester will open the season at home on Friday, December 4th in the 3rd Annual Fred Pickett Classic against Delaware power, Sanford Warriors and then take the short trip over to Widener University to take on defending Philadelphia Public League Champions Martin L. King. The Clippers will then take on District 3's J.P. McCaskey coached by Clipper's legend Steve 'Bird' Powell, William Penn York and Reading High. The team will end the calendar year against another Philadelphia power in the name Imhotep and Ches-Mont's Downingtown West in the 12th Annual Pete/Jameer Nelson Holiday Classic on the campus of Widener University.
Sandwiched between their Del Val League opponents will be trips to Erie, PA to participate in the Martin L. King Jr. Showcase and a stop at Parkland High School for the Annual Hoop Group Event.
The Clippers have put in the work and are ready to sail into the 2015-16 campaign.
Hope to see you at the Fred Pickett Jr Gymnasium also known as the Clip Joint.
