Chester High School’s 2011 Valedictorian Graduates From Widener University with Honors

By Dr. Delores Y. Wright

Former Chester High School Class of 2011 Valedictorian Havana Dixon graduated from Widener University Cum Laude on May 16th 2015 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. During her time at Widener University, Havana was inducted into three honor societies which included Sigma Theta Tau (International Honor Society of Nursing), Sigma Alpha Pi (National Society of Leadership and Success), and Phi Eta Sigma (Freshmen Honor Society). Although the nursing program at the bachelor’s level was demanding, Havana mastered the rigors of the curriculum.

Just like in high school, Havana was known at Widener as a humble and hardworking young lady. She was always eager to learn and willing to help others. She recently stated in a telephone conversation that “The focus is not about where you come from, but instead it is about what you make of yourself.” Havana Dixon hopes to set a positive example for the youth in her community and will continue to strive for greatness.
