Chester (14-9) advances to the 2nd Round of the
District-1 Tournament with a 56-35 win over the visiting Hatboro-Horsham
Hatters. Sophomore Jamar Sudan led the charge for the Clippers with a game high
22 points coupled with 10 rebounds to record another double-double on the
season. He was joined in double figures by junior Marquis Collins with 12
points and senior Keyonte Watkins, playing his final game at the Clip Joint,
with 11 points. Junior Juanir Moore helped secure the win by cleaning the glass
with a season high 10 rebounds. After a close 1st quarter where the Clippers
led 14-13, Chester increased their defensive pressure in the middle two
quarters limiting the Hatters to on 10 points while lighting up the scoreboard
with 29 of their own. The Clippers entered the final quarter with a 20 point
cushion, 43-23. The Hatters started the 4th period with a 6-0 run to close the
gap to 43-29 at the 5:36
mark when Chester called timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the pressure was
restored and the Clippers ended the contest on a 13-6 run.
Juniors Stanley Davis and Deshawn Hinson completed Chester's scoring with 6 and 5 points respectively. Sophmore Jordan Camper entered the stat sheet with 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Junior Jahmi Bailey used his energy on the defensive end by limiting the Hatters leading scorer (Kimble) to a mere 9 points well below his 20 plus point average. Kimble did finish with 12 points, he scored another three while Bailey was getting some well deserved rest on the bench. Jahmi added two assists and four rebounds to the stat sheet.
The Clippers, the reigning 4-time (2011 thru 2014) District-1 Champions, will continue defense of their crown on Tuesday, February 17th when they travel to take on the Abington Ghosts. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
