Chester Boys Basketball won over Glen Mills

Chester sails past Glen Mills 55-52 to remain unbeaten in league play with a 5-0 record and 11-4 overall with the victory at the Fred Pickett Jr. Gymnasium. The Battlin Bulls started fast with a 7-0 run before the Clippers found their mark and closed out the remaining 3:46 of the first quarter on an 11 to 2 run to take control of the contest. Junior Marquis Collins started the run with a trey followed by an put-back dunk by Maurice Henry and treys from junior Stanley Davis and senior Keyonte Watkins. The run continued into the 2nd quarter as Chester continued their defensive stronghold and offensive outage with a 9-0 run before Glen Mills stopped the action with a timeout at the 5:07 mark. Chester 20, Glen Mills 9. Sophomore Ahrod Carter led the charge scoring all 5 of his points during the run. The Battlin Bulls knocked down a couple shots to close the gap but still trailed at the intermission 24-16. The inside-outside duo of Watkins and Henry with 5 and 6 points respectively pushed the Clippers lead to 12 points at the end of the 3rd quarter 39-27. After junior Juanir Moore grabbed a Carter missed shot and slammed it home to open the 4th quarter, Chester enjoyed their biggest margin of the game 41-27 when Glen Mills was forced into another timeout at the 7:11 mark. The Clippers were able to knock down free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Maurice Henry collected another double-double on the season with a team high 16 points and 12 rebounds. He also rejected 4 shots and collected 1 steal on the evening. Watkins joined him in double figures with 14 points. All nine Clippers that played entered their names in the scoring column.

Chester returns to league action on Thursday, January 22nd with the travel to face the Penn Wood Patriots in the "Shoebox" on Essex Ave in Yeadon.
