Chester Boys Basketball falls short in match with Penn Wood

Chester falls short at the line and lose 47-46 to the Penn Wood Patriots at the Shoebox on Essex Ave. With the loss the Clippers drop to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in Del Val League play which puts them in a tie for 1st place with the Glen Mills Battlin Bulls. The Clippers ran aground at the free throw line connecting on only 9 of 23 attempts for 39.1 percent for the game and 1 of 5 in the 4th with the opportunity to steal the win. Chester led 9-6, 23-17 and 39-37 after the first three quarters. The Patriots took the lead 47-46 after connecting on two free throws with 35.1 seconds remaining in the contest. Senior Keyonte Watkins misfired on two free throws and sophomore Jamar Sudan failed to connect on the front end of a 1 and 1 and the Clippers suffered their first league loss of the season. Watkins led Chester with 17 points. Marquis Collins, Maurice Henry and Juanir Moore each contributed 6 points. Jahmi Bailey (4), Stanley Davis (3) and two points each from Sudan and Jordan Camper completed Chester's scoring. Collins and Henry did work on the glass with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.

Chester will travel to Parkland High School in Allentown, Pa on Sunday to take on Westtown at 5:00 in a Hoop Group Event.

The Clippers will return to league play on Tuesday, January 27th when they travel to take on the Academy Park Knights. The JV game will tip-off at 5:30 with the Varsity game to follow.
