Chester Boys Basketball Consecutive Win Over Academy Park

The Clippers won their second consecutive game on the floor of the newly named Fred Pickett Jr. Gymnasium with a 51-44 triumph over the Academy Park Knight (10-2, 1-1). With the win Chester improves their record to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Del Val League. The Clippers found their mark early in the contest connecting on four treys in the opening quarter enroute to a 19-15 lead. Juniors Marquis Collins and Stanley Davis led the way with 5 points apiece. Senior Keyonte Watkins and sophomore Ahrod Carter each contributed a trey with Maurice Henry and Jamar Sudan completing the scoring with 2 and 1 point respectively. A slow 2nd quarter resulted in Chester leading 25-22 at the half as Jamar Sudan dropped in 4 of 9 points. Chester made a strong defensive stand in the third quarter limiting their opponents to a mere 5 points as they pushed their lead to 12 points at the end of the quarter. The inside-outside duo of Henry and Watkins led the way with 6 points apiece. The Clippers continued their inside dominance in the 4th quarter where sophomores 6'7" Jordan Camper scored all of his 6 points and 6'5" Jamar Sudan's put-back accounted for 4 points. A layup by Collins put the final points on the board for the Clippers.

Tonight's contest was a complete team effort as Chester finished with seven players in the scoring column but no player with more than 9 points. Six players distributed 10 assists on 19 made baskets and nine players combined for 38 rebounds.

The Clippers will start their four game road trip on Saturday, January 10th when they travel to take on the host Harrisburg Cougars out of District 3. The JV game is slated to tip-off at 6:00 with the Varsity to follow.

The next home game will be on Tuesday, January 20th when they will face the Glen Mills Battlin' Bulls.
